BLUE DEVOTION CEREMONY

BACKGROUND-

In the early days of ecstatic drawing I sometimes felt a presence that would be very calming to me, often at intense moments common in those days. The presence at times was very strong and loving. I saw it as feminine and blue so I called her Blue. However I never entertained the idea of her too much and her presence diminished.

Over two years later, I made contact with Chris Mitchell, a wise man who was the first to recognize my behavior. Among his guidance which I sought was a prayer of surrender to divinity. So I chose Blue to pray to see if I could find her.

I did. Most times she is gentle but she has come very, very intensely giving the feeling of intense and extreme love, so I do not doubt her gentle side. I thank her for her gifts in my growth.

Blue Devotion Ceremony was made to Blue as a surrendering to the movement that moves through me to which she is party.

SETTING-

Dec. 3, 2005
Fairfax Community Church
Groove Garden: DJ event, DJ Dragonfly

SET UP-

I set up a covered table with a covered display behind it. On the table was a cup containing two blue marking pens attached to two plumes. Resting against the cup was a small painting which represented Blue. Attached to the painting was cording.

On the display was a mounted poster depicting the Hindu God Shiva and Goddess Parvati as well as two drawings I did early on.

PRESENTATION-

I took the painting of Blue and corded it to my chest facing outwardly, then painted the back of each hand with a swatch of blue, took the two pens and switched the positions of the cup and the poster. I moved the display further behind to create room around the table and began drawing on the poster. I returned to the cup from time to time as a symbolic refill of ink. I continued for about 95 minutes. I ended by repositioning the items to set up position.

EXPERIENCE-

I found I could draw ecstatically quite easily in the environment. I paid less attention to the surrounding people, focusing more on the movement. Blue seemed absent until the end of the duration of the ceremony. A sudden and intense change in perception bought on bliss, moans, tears as well as Blue. This lasted perhaps 5 minutes.
